Relevant Power Solutions Signs Contract to Install and Operate Afghanistan Power Plant

Relevant Power Solutions, LLC (RPS) of Houston, Texas will install and operate the first gas-fired powerplant built in Afghanistan since the 1970’s. Bayat Power Electricity Services Distributor Company, a subsidiary of Bayat Group, purchased the first SGT-A45 mobile power plant from Siemens Energy, Inc. RPS, Siemens’ exclusive packager of the SGT-A45, manufactured and tested the unit at its facility in Houston, Texas. The power plant, which will be in the Jowzan Province in northern Afghanistan, will have a 40 MW capacity and be capable of powering up to 200,000 homes. RPS through its subsidiary Relevant Power Solutions Central Asia, LLC will operate and maintain the plant for at least five years. The plant will burn natural gas produced in Afghanistan and lessen the country’s dependency on imported electricity. “RPS worked closely with Bayat to develop innovative solutions make this project become a reality,” said Richard Wolf, RPS’ CEO. “Bayat’s vision and firm commitment to improvement of Afghanistan’s economic and social growth was the catalyst for this project’s success. RPS is proud Bayat has chosen to entrust RPS with the important task of protecting and safely operating such a strategic and valuable asset.”
